Types of Swimsuits for Women According to Body Shape

When the warm weather arrives, it's hard to resist the lure of beaches and pools to beat the heat. However, summer also brings many doubts and insecurities, especially when it comes to choosing a swimsuit. There isn't a one-size-fits-all swimsuit that flatters every body type. So, what should you do?

Don't panic. Although it may seem challenging, there are many types of women's swimsuits, making it easier than you think to find the right one for your body type. Additionally, with the constant evolution of fashion, more styles are emerging. How to choose the right one? Today, we offer some tips to make your selection for this summer easier.

Bikinis

The well-known bikini is one of the most popular types of swimsuits for women worldwide. It is undeniably one of the most versatile options (as you can mix and match different bottoms and tops) and comfortable due to its two-piece design.

While the traditional top shape is triangular, you can now find other styles like bandeau, wide strap tops, or even t-shirt types.

As we already mentioned, there isn't a universal swimsuit that fits all women, but bikinis come close. For example, those with hourglass, triangle, or rectangular body types will look stunning in high-waisted bikinis that highlight the waist; the first two opting for solid colors on the bottom, while the latter can go for prints like animal print or tropical flowers.

Whatever top you choose, it's clear that all you need is a sarong and a good hat to go from the beach to the bar in style.

One-piece Swimsuit

Among the types of women's swimsuits, one-piece swimsuits have always been considered either too classic or reserved for professional swimming. Nothing could be further from the truth, as they are not only incredibly comfortable but also help highlight curves and hide some imperfections we might not be fond of.

For example, one-piece swimsuits, especially those with high-cut legs, make the legs look longer. They are also great allies for women with a rectangular body type by defining the silhouette, and for those with an inverted triangle shape, who can opt for asymmetrical necklines or swimsuits with skirts.

Adding a kimono and some pretty sandals will give you a stunning look for a relaxed beach day with great company.

Tankinis

If bikinis are a comfortable type of swimsuit, we must say that tankinis are even more so. Comprising a bottom and a tank top, they offer the versatility of a bikini with the comfort of a one-piece.

They are ideal if you want to conceal the abdomen area, prefer not to expose too much skin to the sun, or simply seek something super comfortable that you can mix and match for every summer dip. Did you know that tankinis are also a favorite among pregnant women?

It's impossible to say no to a tankini, especially if it has vibrant colors that convey all the incredible energy and desire to enjoy a good summer. And if you prefer it to avoid too much sun exposure, make sure to also bring a cap that protects you and adds a special touch.

Trikinis

At first glance, the trikini seems the most complex of all women's swimsuit types, a one-piece swimsuit that isn’t quite that. But the reality is that it allows for the most creative designs found in swimwear. Models with exposed abdomen, stunning back necklines... You choose what type of trikini you prefer.

It's a very versatile type of swimsuit as it flatters both hourglass and rectangular body types, creating a different silhouette and adding volume in areas where contrast is desired.

But the best part is that trikinis not only serve as swimwear but also allow you to have a more sophisticated and elegant style wherever you go. However, to avoid unwanted tan lines, we recommend using appropriate sunscreen and avoiding direct sunlight with a light dress or a kaftan if you're spending a lot of time out of the water.
